GEP’s EFL curriculum is fully aligned with New Jersey’s Core Curriculum Content Standards and the 40 Essential Assets Children Need to Succeed. The EFL program and curriculum further engage youth by utilizing the method of experiential learning while partnering with horses. The combination of teaching character skills and developmental assets along with academics helps these youth stay out of trouble, stay in school, and become successful and productive students. Students learn valuable life skills such as:
- non-verbal communication
- creative thinking
- problem solving
- team building
Not only does this program work well for the academically challenged, children living with autism, and those living with mental health diagnoses but also for groups looking for team building and leadership skills. The program is well suited as an Extended School Year (ESY) program and as a Transitions Program.
