Gleneayre Equestrian Program’s mission is to provide an experiential learning environment where children facing challenges such as academic, social, financial, family, or the challenges associated with military families can feel safe and valued. It is a place where children and horses come together for the betterment of each other’s lives through teaching sound horsemanship, ethics, and character skills; and youth have opportunities for physical and emotional growth, responsibility, and self-discovery.
The Gleneayre Equestrian Program, Inc. (GEP), is a non-profit registered 501(c) 3 program for families and children experiencing challenges. GEP provides children with a safe place for emotional growth and self-discovery, and the opportunity to develop a sense of responsibility through interaction with and caring for horses. GEP believes that, even though children may be severely challenged by academic, social, financial, and other serious problems, they have the potential to develop into healthy young adults. Through working with horses, children can learn the value of hard work, team work, conflict resolution, and effective communication skills. Horses bolster self-esteem and encourage responsibility in children. Utilizing horses as a tool to teach character skill lessons helps GEP reach the hard-to-reach child. Our goal is to foster and mentor children experiencing challenges so that they may develop into healthy, productive members of the family, the community, and society.
