On the evening of December 4th, 2014 Robert and Ellen Healey were named the 16th recipient of the Lloyd Ritter Community Service Award from the Volunteer Center of Burlington County. This prestigious award acknowledges the philanthropy that has been in the forefront of the Healey’s lives for more than 25 years.
The Healey’s philanthropic work has focused on improving the lives of children through four non-profit organizations: the Gleneayre Equestrian Program, Children’s Resource Center which operates the Ironwood Swim Club and Outdoor Center, Healey International Relief Foundation which provides medical and educational supplies and develops structure within the war-torn and Ebola-stricken African nation of Sierra Leone, and the Healey Education Foundation which promotes the sustainability and growth of Catholic schools.
It was Robert and Ellen’s dream turned reality that formed the Gleneayre Equestrian Program in 1998 with equestrian programs focused on improving the lives of youth facing challenges. In addition to opening their home to operate the many facets of the Gleneayre Equestrian Program, they have opened their hearts to the countless children who have benefited from this organization. The Healey’s commitment to community service is extremely evident making them worthy recipients of this award.
